How to calculate your jamb score and know if you will be admitted.
  1. First thing is to consider your jamb score. If you score at least 180 in your jamb exams, then you stand a greater chance of getting admission this year. But to have a greater advantage, you need to score upto 250 and above.
  2. The next thing you need to consider is the course you applied for. Some of the most competitive courses that requires high jamb scores like from 250 and above includes:
  • Medicine and surgery.
  • Law
  • Pharmacy
  1. Consider how many other candidates that apply for that same course in that same school that score above you. The list of some of the most competitive departments and courses include:
  • Business admin.
  • Business management.
  • Electrical/electronic Engineering.
  • Mechanical Engineering.
  • Computer Science.
  • Biochemistry
  • Micro Biology
  • medical science
  • Electrical engineering.
  • Petroleum engineering.
  1. Your O’level Result: this can only affect you chances of gaining admission in a very minor way. But from reviews, students who uses O’level with one sitting seem to have advantage over others who uses 2 or more sittings. But generally, this is not highly considered as far as you have credited your chosen subjects in your jamb subject combination.

Advice For Admission Seekers

No course is more important than another but some will fetch you job faster while some will delay your getting job offers. In fact the whole thing epitomizes the proverbial quote in Animal Farm that “All animals are equal but some are more equal than others. ”

The school you graduate from can affect your job search opportunity. Also some schools can delay when it comes to issuing certificate. Your certificate must be intact for you to secure a well paid job. So Insist on school that don’t delay when it comes to issuing certificate. Finally avoid school that is prone to crisis which always result to strike.

Final word on how to calculate your jamb score and know if you will be admitted:

Most reasons for not gaining admission with jamb scores from 180 and above is due to competition for example: A candidate seeking for admission with an average score of about 180 to 250  may not be admitted if he/she applies to a very competitive course, with so many candidates who score from 250 and above .

The next thing the school usually do is to assign such other students who also scored very high without gaining admission to other related departments with lesser admitted students. And that is where the 2nd list stuff comes in. Animal Production,

Finally: the lesser the competition in the course and the school you apply for, the higher your chances of gaining admission.
